Who are we?
Remote Focus Records is a record label that embraces the eccentric and eclectic music of the world. The founder, Evan Beierschmitt, is a music fan, creator, and curator that is passionate about finding exciting and undiscovered records. While living in Texas, Tennessee, Idaho, Washington, California, and now Massachusetts, Evan developed an appreciation for many styles of music that, for whatever reason, remain undiscovered and forgotten. Traveling to Ethiopia and China also inspired an appreciation for music abroad, which grew into a desire to share experiences that push listeners beyond their comfort zones.
After landing a job at Bandcamp, an online music store and community, Evan learnt enough from music industry experts to dive in and start his own record label.
The label brings a focused perspective to remote music that exists in the universe. Our goal is to shine a thoughtful light on great music, so artists reach the broadest possible audience. We also highlight pre-existing music that deserves attention via our editorial and DJ mix coverage, all which are updated on a regular basis.
You may find Evan DJing at venues in the Boston area, sharing his musical experiences and networking with others – still on the hunt for undiscovered gems in the musical landscape.
