Welcome to Remote Focus: a hub for sharing personal thoughts, interpretations, stories, and memories about the music that we love. Our goal is to expose great music, new and old, inspiring a broader audience to listen to and support the artists who make it. This platform is a creative outlet for us, too, and our passion for music is expressed in three ways.
Roughly every three weeks, we post a journal entry inspired by our experience listening to music. These articles may resemble a typical review or interview, describing the appealing aspects of an album, or learning more from the creator about their process. We may also tell a fictitious story about a bull, present a concrete poem that visually depicts an album’s mood, or share off-putting review quotes for a single’s fake promotional event—wherever inspiration takes us! We will certainly explore many ways to use this format to spread our love of music.
We also share DJ mixes that combine and recontextualize our favorite songs. Each mix features lovingly spliced and remixed tracks that compile different styles and sounds into an auditory journey. Our Mixcloud page contains track and artist names, so please check out and support the musicians on these compilations.
Lastly, we occasionally release music on our Remote Focus record label. We released our first EP in 2023, and have since kept our eyes peeled for other opportunities to (re)surface music to a broader audience.
Subscribing will help you stay in touch whenever we post new content. We won’t spam you with advertisements. We send a notification to subscribers anytime we post new content. Plain and simple.
